FAQs

How old do you have to be to rent a boat?

The registered renter “lessee” and driver of the rental vessel must be at least 25 years of age.

Do I need a license or experience to rent a boat?

No license is required but it is strongly recommended to have prior boating experience and or knowledge of local waterways.

How early should we arrive before the scheduled start time of the rental?

It is suggested that you arrive 30 minutes prior the start of the rental. This allows time to find a public parking spot as well as work through the orientation process. There is no onsite parking offered at our location on 32 Washington St.

What should we expect when we arrive?

Upon your arrival you will complete and sign the rental agreement and liability waiver. Tidal Creeks Outfitters will go through a pre-trip orientation and inspection of the vessel with the rental party. During this orientation / inspection we will go over U.S. Coast Guard required safety gear on the boat as well as go over the operation of the boat and outboard motor. We will also review with you a navigation chart of Nantucket Harbor illustrating the areas that the rental boats are permitted to operate in and explain the basics of red / green buoy navigation.

Depending on the size of the vessel up to 6 passengers.

Can we bring our dog?

Are Life Jackets Provided?

Yes, life jackets are provided with the rental. It is encouraged that if you have your own, please bring them as they may offer a better level of comfort over the ones that are provided with the rental.

What are some of the places we can go?

All rentals are permitted to be used inside of Nantucket Harbor. From Coatue Pt north to Coskata Pond to Polpis Harbor there is plenty of water to spend the day exploring inside the harbor. Anchor just offshore on one of the excluded beaches and enjoy the day taking in some rays and warm waters of Nantucket harbor!

How much gas will I burn?

It all depends on how hard you run the boat. The smaller skiffs should more than about 10 gallons. The large boats may burn up to as many as 30 gallons depending on the duration and use of the rental. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to monitor the fuel level during the rental period. The Town Fuel dock is directly In front of our location. If you do not want to fill up upon your return or you are running out of time, that is okay as we can take care of it for you. Additional fuel charge will apply and will be billed to your credit card that is on file.
